![]() I am very proud of the boys and how they’ve dug in and got themselves out of trouble. In just 15 games we have added 24 points to their effort: W: 7 D: 3 L: 5 They had 10 points banked already and were 9 points off safety. Remember we took over them on 19 games played. Which means we have done it! We have lead VfL Osnabrück to safety and they will once again play 2. They’ve done it! A comfortable 1-0 victory for Hamburger SV saw off the challenge of Eintracht Braunschweig on the last day of the season. Checked the scores they’ve been beaten 2-0 by FC St Pauli. What is happening in the SSV Jahn Regensburg game? A win for them could save them. What was going on at Hamburger SV? Has Eintracht Braunschweig managed to get anything from their game? Are we now staring relegation down the barrel? Levelling up the scores and rescue a point for the home team. Jan Hochscheidt cuts inside just outside the 18-yard box and piledrives one past the hands of the keeper. However, it didn’t and three minutes into stoppage time Erzgebirge Aue have an incisive breakaway down the left flank. If the game had stopped there I would have been on cloud 9. Heading VfL Osnabrück into the lead, and in doing so to safety in the 2. ![]() Until out of nowhere Ulrich Taffertshofer towered above the Erzgebirge defence and rifled home a bullet header just outside the six-yard box. The second half was a real dull affair, both sides struggling to find the creative freedom needed to make something happen. Nothing much more happening in the first half. Erzgebirge have a shot rattle the crossbar 20mins in, and we respond with driving one slightly wide of goal almost instantaneously. Things get off to a tentative start and both sides are just feeling each other out early. We are so close to achieving the almost impossible here. Their fate would then be down to a play-off.īrace yourselves! Who is ready to find out what our fate is on the last day of the season? This will be some turnaround if we can pull it off. ![]() SSV Jahn Regensburg could mathematically still get out of it on the last day if we both lose (or Braunschweig draw). We’ve got to go to Erzgebirge Aue on Sunday and get something, and I’ll love it, love it if we can beat them!Įintracht Braunschweig on the other hand have a difficult trip to Hamburger SV who just disposed of us, so I’m hoping they can do us a good turn with a victory there. Things went from bad to worse for VfL Osnabrück when Tim Leibold scored just minutes from the end to bag the three points for the opposition. We battled on stoically until the 61st minute when Josha Vangoman levelled things up for Hamburger SV. We opened the scoring early thanks to an own-goal from their keeper Sven Ulreich, but we lost Ludovit Reis as he got red-carded on the half-hour mark. These guys beat us 1-0 in January, but we do have home advantage this time around. Less than a week to recover from the exertions against the Kickers, and we travel to one of the toughest sides in the league in Hamburger SV. At least we didn’t lose and it’s a point towards the total, and when you’re in a relegation scrap every point counts down there. Thankfully Greuther Früth lost once more despite a plucky effort, thanks to a late winner from Karlsruher SC defender Robin Bormuth.Ī bore draw! A very evenly matched game with neither side having the penetration needed to break the deadlock. The day prior to today’s game Eintracht Braunschweig drew at top of the table Fortuna Düsseldorf which meant the pressure is on us to get something here. A side which is right down there with us in the relegation reaches. Our squad is a little jaded after the last match but we have benefitted from over 14 days off before today’s first game, which will come up against Würzburger Kickers. I am going to treat each game today like a cup final. When you last joined us we rounded off April with an excellent 5-0 victory against Holstein Kiel, and I am looking for more of the same today as we have three very important games coming up for you. If you haven’t read about the Die Maschine philosophy yet then make sure you head across and check that out before reading any further. In today’s instalment, we enter the final three games and it’s still all very much to play for in the 2.
